This twelve-course program is designed to prepare lay leaders to successfully provide leadership in youth and family ministry for a congregation. Coursework in the Youth and Family Certificate Program provides a solid introduction to Biblical theology, Lutheran theology, church history, youth and family ministry, and Christian education.

ILT, through the generosity of donors, supplies financial aid and tuition payment programs to assist students in the payment of tuition. ILT is committed to making an affordable education available to all who are accepted to any educational program. Because of this commitment, ILT students graduate with no debt.

Cost of Courses

Tuition is $390 per credit hour or $1,170 per 3-hour course. Tuition cost is subject to change. Additional costs (application fee, books, costs associated with researching and producing the independent projects or the final project or thesis, etc.) are also the responsibility of the participant.

Courses to be Completed

The Y.F.C. program provides a foundational education in Lutheran congregational ministry to youth and families. This program is designed to help train volunteers and professionals to serve their congregations as youth leaders or family and life ministers.​







Total: 36 Hours

Total Timeline

This program consists of 12 courses in the areas of biblical theology, historical and systematic theology, and educational theory. Full-time students can finish this degree in 2 years taking 3 courses a semester.
