The Word At Work Fall 2020
With this email, we are pleased to present the Fall 2020 issue of The Word at Work, the official magazine of the Institute of Lutheran Theology.
This issue of The Word at Work differs a bit from previous issues in that it highlights one main article, with only two other shorter submissions. In the future, we will return to the practice of presenting multiple articles per issue.
In this issue, however, we present a lengthier academic article by our own Professor of Biblical Theology Mark Hillmer. In it, he addresses one aspect of an issue that Christians have wrestled with from the beginning: the relationship between the Old and New Testaments. He notes that some scholars have criticized the way that the writers of the New Testament quote the Old Testament, calling their use of the Old Testament "laughable" and "ridiculous." However, Hillmer argues in his article that the New Testament authors were entirely faithful in their use of the Old Testament.
As with all contributors to The Word at Work, we are grateful to Professor Hillmer for sharing his rich biblical insights.
