On October 18-19, CALC hosted its Annual Gathering. 78 delegates, guests and visitors gathered at the Best Western Port O’Call Hotel in Calgary, Alberta, for CALC’s 28th Annual General Convention. 28 of CALC’s 32 congregations were represented. The location of this year’s convention is significant. Twenty-eight years ago (1992) CALC’s constituting convention was held at the Port O’Call Hotel. One hundred delegates gathered from all over Canada and formed the organization which became the Canadian Association of Lutheran Congregations.

At the gathering this year, Rev. Dr. John Eidsmoe, an instructor at ILT, talked about apologetics against anti-intellectualism, liberalism, Darwinism, and Islam. Roland Weisbrot and Kevin Nelson both graduated and received the Pastoral Ministry Certificate. The ceremony was conducted by Leon Miles from ILT and Ed Skutshek from CALC. Roland and John Lofstedt were also presented with certificates of ordination, installation, and roster in CALC. Kevin will be ordained next month.

It was wonderful to see all the students, faculty, board members, and donors in Canada. Congratulations to Roland, Kevin, and John. And thank you for your hospitality and friendship.
