Pastor Appreciation Month: They Stand on the Front Line
Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching.
1 Timothy 5:17
October is Pastor Appreciation Month, it is an opportunity to recognize that we have so much to be appreciative of concerning our pastors. God calls special people into the ministry to do the vital work of the church to proclaim the Law and Gospel, to announce the forgiveness of sin. This has been true from the beginning of the church, but life is changing for congregations and their pastors. Churches struggle. We feel the pressure of a society that is more and more unconcerned with God, and in some ways antagonistic toward Christianity. Pastors stand daily on the front line and face these challenges. We should pray for our pastors every day. October is a special opportunity to show them we care. Remember to give your pastors a special thanks for the concern and care they devote toward you.
The Institute of Lutheran Theology (ILT) is committed to training pastors who know the Word of God and can apply it to the needs of the congregation. We exist to support congregations and pastors in the callings and places they live.
Let us pray today and through the month for those who serve us so well.
