The ILT Board of Directors met Monday and Tuesday this week (June 17 and 18) and gave their direction on many weighty matters. The most important items for discussion at each summer board meeting are the budget for the coming year, the board's evaluation of the president, and nominations of new board members. The board also reviewed the 2019-2020 business plan and the proposal for undergraduate programs that will be sent to the accreditation agency this fall. Dr. Bielfeldt reported to the board that the vision of what ILT will be is becoming clearer. In his report to the board he said, "I now believe our future is to be an international school educating people in theology to become professors, teachers, pastors, and well-informed and committed lay people. We educate students in the classical theological tradition from a Lutheran perspective in order to address the contemporary intellectual and cultural horizon by teaching, preaching and witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ."
The Board Finance Committee proposed a budget of $1.29 million dollars. There was much discussion about this budget which was adopted by the board. While this is ILT's largest budget historically, the increase in this budget is consistent with the growing needs of the student body. ILT added three new programs that will start this fall. These programs will bring in increase revenue from tuition and represent significant steps in the growth of ILT.
Two board members have come to the end of their term as ILT board members. We would like to thank Rev. Fred Baltz and Mrs. Debbie Hesse for their service to the board of ILT for the last eight years. ILT is only 10 years old and many things have changed in the last eight years, of which they have been an important part. We wish to thank them both for their dedication to making ILT sustainable as well as for their prayers and support to the institution. New members were nominated to the board and will be announced after the fall meeting.
We give thanks to God for all his blessings, but today we especially give thanks for the dedication of his people to serve and support ILT. This means we give thanks to all of you who are reading this as many of you have also been supporting us in our work through your prayers and offerings for years, too.
We live each day in His promises and give glory only to Him. God be praised!
