Dear Friends of ILT,
As some of you may know, Rev. Dr. Lucas V. Woodford was elected District President of the Minnesota South District of the LCMS on June 22. Unfortunately for our students this is a full-time job, which means he not only has to step down from Zion Lutheran Church as the Sr. Pastor, but also from being an adjunct professor for ILT. Though we celebrate this honor with Pastor Woodford, we certainly feel the loss of our professor even as his congregation grieves the loss of their Sr. Pastor. Yet, we know that Jesus remains the Lord of the Church and he will continue to lead us all forward.
Dr. Woodford was installed as the District President at the convention on June 23, and thus has duties that have begun in many respects. However, he does not formally take office fully until September 1, which means he will be winding down his ministry at Zion Lutheran Church and School in Mayer, MN while also transitioning into his role as District President from now until Sept. 1. Pastor Woodford’s last Sunday at his congregation will be August 12, which is also understandably why he was not able to continue as a professor with us this fall. He and his wife Becca, and their six children, all appreciate your prayers throughout this busy transition. Dr. Woodford assured us that he cherishes his time with ILT and appreciated the wonderful camaraderie and collegiality of the all students and faculty, and the friendships he was able to make.
Dr. Jonathan Sorum has stepped in to take Dr. Woodford's course this Fall semester. We can't predict what Lucas will be doing with us in the future, but as he is such a faithful servant of our Lord and such a gifted writer, teacher and leader we are reasonably confident we will see him again teaching online with us in some capacity.
