Ministry leaders from diverse parts of India will gather in Bisharah, India on the campus of Shaliach Bible College for an intensive 10 day course of training in Great Commission Leadership. The program will run from June 8th through 18th with instruction provided by The Rev. Dr. Brad Miller, Institute of Lutheran Theology (ILT) Assistant Dean of Educational Ministries for International Education.
It will be Dr. Miller’s 9th teaching trip to India, but a very special new chapter for ILT. The Great Commission Leadership program is a collaborative offering of ILT and ChurchTech Institute. Participants will earn a Certificate in Great Commission Leadership, while accruing credit hours toward an ILT Pastoral Ministry Certificate.
Among the participants will be 50 Shaliach Bible College students plus representatives from 3 different ministries that are preparing to deploy the ILT training in other languages and geographic settings. Shaliach’s video studio resources will be utilized to capture the training in English, after which translating will begin into other languages. Costs per language vary, but begin around $1500. Donors are being eagerly sought to sponsor translation.
India has over 1.2 billion citizens - of which over 1 billion do not yet know Jesus Christ. There are more than a dozen major languages which make India a diverse linguistic challenge. Dr. Miller has helped dozens of Indian churches connect to Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC) over the past 4 years. ILT is presently active in two African locations and 3 other Asian locations - in addition to robust offerings in North America.
