ILT’s Newest Graduate!

Pastor Charlotte (Fran) Hill of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Galena, IL, received the Master of Divinity degree on April 23, 2016 at the Augustana District Convention in Marshall, MN. The degree was conferred upon her by the faculty and board of the Institute of Lutheran Theology and presented by Dr. Dennis Bielfeldt, President, and Dr. Jonathan Sorum, Dean of Academics. The gathered crowd at Living Word Lutheran Church of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC) witnessed the rights, privileges, and responsibilities of the degree being conferred upon her as she accepted her diploma. SALT Needs Shakers

The School for Asian Lutheran Theology (SALT) is a joint project by The Institute of Lutheran Theology (ILT) and and Lutheran Asian Ministries at Morningside Lutheran Church Sioux City, IA (LCMC). Between March 30th and April 13th, I traveled to three countries in Southeast Asia to teach seminars on Lutheran theology to pastors and lay leaders. This is the beginning of ILT’s teaching in Southeast Asia in regard to the new school we are starting in theses countries. South Dakota District LCMS Pastors Conference Spring 2016

Pastors from South Dakota gathered earlier this week at Peace Lutheran Church (LCMS) in Brookings SD for the South Dakota District LCMS Pastors Conference. During this 2 day conference (April 4th and 5th) pastors along with medical professionals from around the area were invited to present and discuss on bioethics medical ethics and along with the ethics in dealing with end of life issues. Presenters included two ILT faculty members; Pastor Timothy Rynearson, Chair of the Pastoral Theology Department, presented on the issues pastors face in these areas and how health care workers can collaborate with pastors to provide care for patients. Working With Local Congregations for Adult Education

On March 13, 2016, Dr. Dennis Bielfeldt, President of the Institute of Lutheran Theology (ILT), delivered the first of three presentations on Islam, as a part of a four-week series at Morningside Lutheran Church (LCMC) in Sioux City, IA. Dr. Bielfeldt is one of two presenters in this series. Adults from the local area gather on Sunday afternoons for about an hour and half to learn and grow in their understanding of their Christian Faith and how it relates to the world around them. This is part of an adult education program that Morningside makes available for it members and the local community. ILT and Morningside are involved in a growing relationship with one another.
